Mt Kinabalu - Part 2-Mesilau Trail “Spectacular rainforest view”

Mesilau route is farther than using Timpohon Gate by 1.5KM totalling 10KM.  So, this will give another 2 hours to trek mainly due to jungle terrain and long trail.  Another point to highlight is that you need extra stamina and drinking water.  A few friends of mine got a knee/ ankle pains during the trekking.  It was challenging and very long route.

Another point of advice, please give your hiking bag to Potter to carry up to Laban Rata.  It was my mistake not to give my bag to them.  The charge is MYR8 per kilo.  Can you imagine that I carried my bag weigh 10 kilo on my back for 10 hours trekking.   I cramped my shoulder and needed plenty of pit stop to rejuvenate.

The first 3 KM was very exciting, I got very pleased with the view and body tried to adjust with the climate and acclimatised with the high altitude.   Got some wooden ladder to climb up.

But the payback is the best of all, the hard sweats were paid off by the enjoyment and adventurous of the scenery of natural tropical jungle and opportunities for viewing flora and fauna. We can see waterfall, streams, beautiful flora and plants and birds.  The journey from Mesilau is beautiful in deed and exciting but it was tiring.

The water stream was so beutiful and very cool.  It is advised not to drink the water except if you bring along Iodine tablets, you can fill the water into your container and put 2 tablets to make the water safe to drink.
